The Most Streamed Women On Spotify Is Surprisingly Missing One Really Big Name

Spotify released a playlist of its most streamed female artists in honor of International Women’s Day. The usual suspects are all there… well, except for one. Noted MySpace teen Taylor Swift is nowhere to be found.

That’s understandable, considering the outright hostile relationship that has developed between the company and Swift since she opted to keep her smash hit album 1989 (and the rest of her discography) off of the streaming service. Taylor initially kept it off of all streaming services, but relented earlier this year and gave Tidal access to the album’s contents.

In fact, a good chunk of the playlist reads like a primer on the way that the streaming industry has fractured over the last several years. Rihanna is on the list, but she withheld ANTI from Spotify when it was first released. Adele is on the playlist, too, even though her most-recent album isn’t available for streaming. Beyonce is also included, even though her most recent work was released as a Tidal exclusive.
