First and foremost, there is a Backstreet Boys documentary being released this month. If you are excited about this, this is a safe space to share that. I’ll be watching from my couch in my 1999 Millennium tour T-shirt. Second, Vulture has an exclusive clip from the doc, and there’s no singing, dancing or wanting it that way (tell me why-ee!). Instead, the five members of the group visit the home of Lou Pearlman, their former manager who stole their money and possibly worse.

Pearlman, who created the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and the ’90s boy band Wave, went to prison in 2007 for a Ponzi scheme that robbed over $300 million from mostly elderly investors. He was also robbing his artists blind. According to a 2007 Vanity Fair article, that was the least of his crimes. Nick Carter’s mother is said to have referred to Pearlman as a “sexual predator” and when asked if her son was a victim, she said, “Certain things happened.”

Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of hits theaters and VOD January 30th.
