In his review of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, Brett Morgen’s fully authorized documentary on the late Nirvana frontman, our very own Vince Mancini wrote that the filmmaker had “exclusive access to never-before-scene home video and Kurt’s collection of personal art, some of which he turns into stylized animations.” That’s an important note because what else is there to say about Kurt that hasn’t already been written a million times already? You can only read Heavier than Heaven or feel guilty while flipping through Journals so many times before it becomes as familiar as “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Sometimes, you want to listen to the deep cuts, and Montage of Heck, which will screen at SXSW, looks like its “Token Eastern Song.”

The soundtrack also features a “mind blowing 12-minute acoustic Cobain unheard track,” which is a poor choice of words, but still exciting. Have a look at the trailer above.
