Everyone does that thing where they’re a kid where they pretend they get to play sports with/against their favorite athlete. Like when you were 10 years old and the cold, dark world still let you believe in the concept of hope, you probably played through a fake scenario on a basketball court where you and Michael Jordan helped the Chicago Bulls win an NBA title. Or you were on the baseball field, pretending that you just struck out Ken Griffey, Jr. to help your team win the World Series.

For kids in North Carolina in 2016, their version of this exercise probably involves catching a pass from Cam Newton. This fantasy became a reality for a group of students at the Community School of Davidson in Davidson, N.C. on Friday, as Newton showed up at their school and started throwing the football around.

According to WSOC-TV, Newton was driving past the school, saw a kid in his jersey, and decided to stop and say hi. After the teachers gave the thumbs up, Newton jumped over a fence and started hanging out with the kids. Just look at them all as they follow him around like he’s the pied piper or something. As for how his impromptu visit went, one of the teachers – Mimi Siadak – said it left one student incredibly shook.

“I saw one girl crying and hyperventilating and when I asked, ‘Sweetheart what’s wrong?’ she said, ‘That was just the best moment of my life,’” Siadak said.

Cam Newton seems like a pretty cool guy.
