Dez Bryant Tore Into ‘Fake’ Cowboys Fans Who Wanted The Team To Bench Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott played out of his mind on Sunday night during Dallas’ 26-20 win over Tampa Bay. The rookie signal caller completed 32 of his 36 pass attempts for 279 yards, mercilessly picking apart the Bucs secondary en route to the Cowboys’ 12th win on the season.

This performance also shut down the small but vocal group of Cowboys fans who think the team needs to give the starting job to Tony Romo in order to make the Super Bowl. Romo, of course, missed the beginning of the season with an injury and offered a statement upon his return in which he said Prescott “earned the right” to start for the Cowboys.

This didn’t stop some Dallas fans for openly calling for Romo to get the job, especially after Prescott struggled against the Giants last week. But after the Cowboys beat the Buccaneers, Dez Bryant had some strong words for those who aren’t 100 percent behind Prescott. In a video released by the team, Bryant went off on “fake” Cowboys fans who jump on and off the team’s bandwagon.

I’m talking to the fake Cowboy fans. I’m talking to the bandwagoners. I’m talking about everybody. Just, first off, just jump off. Jump off. We lost one game, we was 11-2. Like, come on, man. This guy put us in this position and you just get to talking crazy. We have one bad game. It’s crazy. This is why everybody gets blocked out. We gotta stick together, we’ve gotta just focus on ourselves and keep on pushing and not pay attention to the noise like the fake praise. We’ve gotta treat the fake praise like the haters. All the same.

It was a firm statement by Bryant about who should start under center. In fact, the only person who made a more authoritative statement about the Cowboys’ starting job was Prescott with the way he played on Sunday night.
