An Angry Gambler Wants Joe Blanton To Pay Him For Blowing His Seven-Team Parlay

There’s nothing worse than a parlay that gets ruined by that one game. You’ve been dodging bullets, imagining what you’re going to do with your windfall, then someone screws it all up by blowing the game and ruining your ability to cash out.

For one man, it was Nationals reliever Joe Blanton.

The screenshot is cut off in an awkward way, but this person who e-mailed Major League Baseball asking for Blanton to reimburse him is putting the blame squarely on Blanton. On Thursday, the Nationals took a 3-2 lead to the ninth inning, where Sammy Solis and Blake Treinen combined to give up the tying run. In the 10th inning, Blanton gave up the deciding run and the Nationals lost 4-3.

Shawn Kelley also gave up two runs in the eighth, so this disgruntled gambler is very upset with the bullpen as a whole, but since Blanton took the loss, it appears it is on him to pay this man.

Here are some great things about this.

One, the gambler wants $215, and while he doesn’t specify in the e-mail, it seems that was the payout on his seven-team parlay, which means he probably wagered $5 on seven favorites. So, if anything, Blanton owes this guy $5. Also, this guy is mad about losing a $5 wager.

Two, he fired off the e-mail with his phone at 1 percent.

Three, he tells a sob story about how he doesn’t have any money while admitting he wasted some of it on gambling.

If anyone deserves to have a wagered paid off, it’s the guy who had North Carolina -2.5 against Kentucky in the Elite Eight. Roy Williams should pay the person who had to lose because his team allowed a tying 3-pointer, then scored the winning bucket on the longest possible 2-pointer with 0.3 seconds remaining. You’d think that person should be over it by now but you’d be wrong about me.
