John Oliver Slams Daily Fantasy Sports For Being Like ‘A Nice Baggie Of Heroin’

After he spent the opening part of the show going on an epic profanity-filled rant against the terrorists responsible for the Paris attacks, John Oliver devoted most of Last Week Tonight to taking on daily fantasy sports.

This is far from the first time that Oliver has dipped into the sports world, as he previously took down the Redskins’ NSFW trademark filings, explored the absurdity of funding stadiums with public money, and of course has had many tirades against Sepp Blatter and FIFA.

The whole clip is pretty great as Oliver spends nearly 20 minutes ripping into daily fantasy trying to claim they are not gambling by comparing it to online poker, making fun of the sad protest rally outside of the New York Attorney General’s office, and explaining that you basically have no shot at winning any significant amount of money unless you have the time and ability to crunch some serious numbers ahead of time.

The highlight however comes at the end, when Oliver gloriously mocks the DraftKings and FanDuel commercials that we’re all so sick of seeing with the help of a slew of familiar faces, including: Seth Rogen, Mike Birbiglia, Martin Starr, Adam Pally of “Happy Endings” fame, and Jennifer Barkley herself, Kathryn Hahn.

Between Oliver devoting a segment to them on Last Week Tonight and Bill Burr ripping them on his podcast every time he has to do an ad read, daily fantasy sites are proving to be good comedic fodder, if nothing else.
