If there’s one man on this planet who you don’t want to mess with, it’s probably Hafthór Björnsson — the Icelandic strongman who also plays The Mountain on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Unfortunately for Cristiano Ronaldo, the soccer player has become a target of The Mountain in a recent video message posted by Björnsson. Why? Because Portugal’s soccer team is preparing to play Iceland in the Euro 2016 tournament next week and Björnsson is really pulling for his hometown boys to come away with the upset.
And when you’re a man as large and as terrifying as Björnsson, why wouldn’t you try to intimidate the other team’s best player to gain an advantage? You’re pretty much a bad countryman if you don’t.
“Hey, my name is Hafþór Björnsson from Iceland. I’m ‘The Mountain’ from Game of Thrones, and I have a message for Cristiano Ronaldo. I know you’re playing against Iceland in the first game. If you dare to score against my teammates, I will find you and crush your head…”
Sure, it all seems like one big joke in the spirit of friendly competition, but if I were Ronaldo I’d probably still be pooping my pants just a little bit. After all, this isn’t an empty threat — The Mountain is an experienced skull-crusher.
Yeah, I’m not taking any chances. Ronaldo should probably just settle for an assist or two.
