If you’d like to know what happened on tonight’s WWE Raw but don’t want to read star ratings and wordy paragraphs to decipher it, With Leather is here for you. Here’s what happened on the July 8, 2013, episode of WWE Raw:
WWE Raw Results
1. Daniel Bryan defeated Sheamus. Bryan reversed a Texas Cloverleaf from Sheamus into a cradle for the pinfall victory. After the match, Sheamus shook Bryan’s hand.
2. WWE Tag Team Champions The Shield defeated Tons Of Funk. Reigns pinned Tensai after a spear.
– John Cena and Mark Henry had an in-ring confrontation. Henry took a cheap shot at Cena and got the advantage, laying him out with the World’s Strongest Slam.
3. Chris Jericho defeated Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel. The Miz was on color commentary and distracted Axel, allowing Jericho to hit a Codebreaker for the win.
4. Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara went to a No Contest. Dolph Ziggler interrupted the match to do a facetious version of Ricardo Rodriguez’s introduction speech. Del Rio attacked him, and the match was thrown out.
– Vickie Guerrero had a performance evaluation. A vote on the WWE App decided that she would be fired. Vince McMahon scolded the crowd for their decision and made Brad Maddox the new Raw GM.
5. Kane defeated Christian. Kane won with a chokeslam. After the match, the Wyatt Family debuted. Bray Wyatt sat in a rocking chair at ringside as his followers attacked Kane, injuring him with the steel ring steps. Wyatt posed over Kane’s body.
6. Kaitlyn and Layla vs. AJ Lee and Alicia Fox went to a No Contest. Kaitlyn speared AJ on the outside of the ring and her music started playing, so I guess it was a no contest. The Bella Twins did everything they could to ruin the match on commentary.
7. CM Punk defeated Randy Orton. Punk won a back-and-forth match with the Go To Sleep. After the match, Daniel Bryan attacked both wrestlers, climbed a ladder and posed with the Money in the Bank briefcase.
They are not his followers, but his brothers.
I just want to thank Brandon for doing this brief recap every week so I can read Best & Worst with context without reading the horrible in character show reviews over on 411 Wrestling.
Jason Powell on ProWrestling.net is generally a pretty tolerable dude.
Without showing the Cameron & Naomi Rising-Butt-Bump intro…what is the point of having Tons Of Funk on RAW?
The Bellas have been part of the WWE for a good amount of time. Why are they so terrible at everything? Kharma promised us she would squash them like bugs. Can that still happen?
Interesting to point out that all the big single matches featuring Money-in-the-Bank competitors ended with clean victories.
Also, man, I know I mentioned this after Christian’s first match back but, damn, he looks old, slow and generally terrible. And I won’t even blame it on Kane because Kane’s been having good matches lately. The Christian vs. Kane match had soooo many rest spots in it the show could have gone to commercial, like, four or five times.
And, finally, who has two thumbs and called that Harper and Rowan would attack someone while Wyatt acted as ‘mastermind’ (as opposed to the many, varied suggestions for trio-based action)? THIS GUY RIGHT HERE!!!!
/points at self with thumbs, fails, pokes self in eye
