The Infamous Fan Who Has Caught Over 9,000 Baseballs Got Drilled In The Face By A Home Run

If you’re a baseball fan, you’re likely familiar with Zack Hample’s work whether you know it or not. He’s the guy who has more or less dedicated his life to catching and collecting baseballs at MLB games. For better or for worse, he’s undoubtedly the best at what he does. He’s hauled in over 9,000 baseballs up to this point, including some big-time snags — like Alex Rodriguez’s 3,000th hit.

But he had a pretty rough night at the ballpark on Wednesday night. Hample, a Yankees season ticket holder, had not one, but two golden opportunities pass him by in the ninth inning of the Yanks’ contest against the Texas Rangers.

First, this happened…

Then, this happened!

It seemed like Hample, who takes his trade very seriously, was somewhere between angry and very angry about both of these misses. You can briefly see his reactions on both shots, and he looks quite irked — especially after the second home run ball. The man really doesn’t want any tarnishes on his legacy so, obviously, he took it quite hard.

Fortunately, he has the heart of a champion and is determined to soldier on through the darkest of times.

Just a little inspirational story for your Thursday, folks. Remember, not all heroes wear capes.
