I have high hopes that Chris Hemsworth will bring SNL at least back to some level of comedy this week. A point where the public isn’t wetting itself over an ISIS parody that neither the funniest or most offensive thing on the show.
It’s either that or Kate McKinnon makes these promos something special once again. There’s headlocks galore, attempted Dirty Dancing re-creations, Future Hemsworth with red death eyes, and a demonstration of a “classic McKinnon move.” It’s hard not to be a fan.
Still, backing away and looking at the bigger picture shows a little promise. Weekend Update might be gelling finally, there’s plenty of great cast members to go around, and we’re past that post-#SNL40 hangover. I’m hopeful.
