Maisie Williams was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to chat about Game of Thrones, which returns in just a few short weeks, and she discussed what it was like being a 12-year-old cast on the show, and if she was initially even allowed to watch it. As it turns out, she was allowed to watch, although it made for some awkward, extended family viewing in which her 87-year-old grandmother with poor vision had to be fed gin to get through it.
She also recalled how, after being cast at just 12, she adamantly learned how to sword fight left-handed because she read on the internet that Arya Stark was left-handed and didn’t want to let down fans. As if “learning to sword fight, period,” wasn’t a daunting enough task for a 12-year-old.
