‘Game of Thrones’ Was Not Prince Joffrey’s First Taste of the Hand

We are finding out all sorts of interesting things about the cast of “Game of Thrones.” Last week, for instance, we discovered that Peter Dinklage was the voice of Wake Up Guy on “Seinfeld.” Yesterday, over on Pajiba, Josh discovered that Bron — Tyrion Lannister’s grizzled sellsword — was once a huge, Simon-Cowell signed pop star in Britain, and man was he lame. And now, thanks to a WarmingGlow reader, Sean, we know that before he was slapped down by his mother, and before he was bitch-slapped by Tyrion, the King of the Bitch Face, Prince Joffrey, was face-palmed by a police officer in Batman Begins.

But before we get to the video evidence, you should also know that Jack Gleeson — the kid who plays King Joffrey — is 19-years-old and one of the dorkiest dudes you’ll ever see. He’s a sophomore at Trinity College in England studying philosophy and theology, and he has his eyes set, not on a future in acting, but in earning a PhD in Ancient Hebrew. I know a guy with a PhD in Ancient Hebrew; he’s a great paralegal. But Gleeson is not terribly interested in acting.

“I’m happy to sacrifice a big pay cheque for my happiness, if that’s not too corny a thing to say. It’s probably more naive than mature to say that, maybe, but that’s how I feel.”

Good for you, Gleeson. More importantly, it’s good to know that you understand you’re likely not get a lot more work because, like the kid who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, you’ve been typecast as a terrible little sh*t and those parts don’t come along too often. You’ve soaked it for all it’s worth, kiddo.

And here is Prince Joffrey getting his first taste of the hand, and now we know why he’s such a bratty little punk: He couldn’t find his mother.

Now, if someone wants to GIFitize that and speed it up, it will look right at home next to these two images:

UPDATE: Thanks Seth P. for coming through with the GIF.
