NBC Gives Pilot Order To A Lorne Michaels Comedy Starring John Mulaney

Comedian John Mulaney has been on the verge of stardom for awhile now — he’s the guy SNL nerds, myself included, always point to when we’re talking about the show’s “hidden gems,” and how he should take over for Seth Meyers as head writer and/or Weekend Update anchor…why, yes, we don’t have sex much, thank you for asking — and yesterday, he got a push toward it when NBC picked up his pilot, executive produced by Lorne Michaels.

The network has picked up a semi-autobiographical comedy written by and starring hot stand-up comedian John Mulaney and executive produced by Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels.

The multicamera comedy is described as young ensemble vehicle loosely based on Mulaney’s life. (Via)

So…it’s about a dude who watches Law & Order all day, and when he’s not watching Law & Order, he’s writing Stefon jokes and thinking about Law & Order. /sets DVR for life If anyone can make a multi-camera sitcom watchable, it’s Mulaney (well, Mulaney and James Hetfield), which is good: NBC needs all the help it can get.
