TV has, like, totally sucked ever since Kukla, Fran, and Ollie went off the air in 1957. It’s all just crass commercialism meant to sell us inorganic sea salt, scripted by a bunch of sell-outs using laptops instead of typewriters and soundtracked by mainstream Brooklyn bands like Dirty Projectors. Everyone knows Losantville, Indiana is the new Brooklyn. The Man’s grasp on us with his manicured fist is tighter than my 12 loftmate’s shared pair of shredded skinny jeans. Where’s the show that a simple, dumpster-dressed [non-specific pronoun] like me can watch at the bus shelter because owning a TV is so 2011? *digs through crate of dusty articles* *readjusts glasses that say “Vote Perot” on the sides*
The Untitled Hipster Project [Ed. Note: filmed live during a grandmother’s knitting meeting?] was created by former Daily Show With Jon Stewart showrunner Josh Lieb and actor/comedian/musician Nick Thune who will write together. Lieb will executive produce; Thune will co-executive produce with an eye to star in the project, which centers on a decidedly un-hip anthropology student finds himself living with – and studying – the wild, untamed hipsters of Brooklyn, New York.
