One Of The ‘Mean Girls’ Is Reportedly Up For A Lead Role In ‘True Detective’

Rachel McAdams is a very good actress who’s in a lot of very bad things (Olivia Wilde is the poster child for this unfortunate phenomenon). Mean Girls is obviously a classic, and Wedding Crashers and The Notebook are decent enough, but other than that, it’s a whole lot of mush like The Vow and Morning Glory, the kind of movies you find on ABC Family at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday. She should be a much bigger star than she actually is, so if this rumor is true, maybe McAdams will done with bad rom-coms forever.

Along with [the news] that Justin Lin is in talks to direct two episodes of HBO’s True Detective, Variety reports that Rachel McAdams is vying for the female lead role alongside Elisabeth Moss.

The role in question is, according to a July report, a sheriff from Montery, CA, who has a troubled past. Jessica Chastain was previously sought for the role, but she turned it down. (Via)

No offense to Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, and Riggins, but if McAdams, Moss, and Chastain want to say “screw True Detective” and make their own show together, I would gladly watch it. Even if it’s on ABC Family at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday.
