Game of Thrones season six has come to a glorious end, taking with it the lives of many unlucky characters. With the loss of fan favorite Margaery Tyrell and mainstays like Grand Maester Pycelle (at the hands of murderous children, natch), the tragic death of poor King Tommen can get a bit lost in the shuffle. After being so terribly undermined by his own mother’s plotting and watching the love of his young life die in a wildfire explosion, the last of Cersei’s children threw himself out a window rather than face the new status quo in King’s Landing.
While Tommen was an ineffectual ruler, no one can deny that he was easily the most moral member of the Lannister clan and truly wanted to do his best to be a good and decent king. However, his naïveté and inexperience was constantly working against him. YouTuber Shahan Reviews decided to create a memorial video to honor the boy king, with his final moments mashed up between the speech that his grandfather Tywin (man, who else misses having that evil dude around?) gives him after the death of his brother Joffrey and his ascension to the Iron Throne. Tommen certainly wasn’t the best option to run Westeros, but he deserved a better fate than he got.
