What’s On Tonight: ‘The Get Down’ Premieres On Netflix

The Get Down (Netflix) — Baz Luhrmann’s highly-anticipated, much talked about musical hip-hop odyssey is finally here. The Netflix original series follows a group of kids living in the Bronx who ushered in a new era of music as disco was dying out. Apparently, the show has already made history as the most expensive in history. With Luhrmann at the helm, it will at least be stunning to look at.

2016 Summer Olympics Primetime Women’s gymnastics; swimming (NBC, 8:00 p.m.) — After they totally dominated in the team final, the women’s U.S. gymnastics team gets ready for the all-around and individual events. Simone Biles is expected to take home at least a few gold medals tonight, but teammate Aly Raisman may give her a run for her money. Back at the pool, Michael Phelps readies for the 200IM final.

Beauty and the Beast (CW, 9:00 p.m.) — While Cat, JT and Heather try to exonerate Vincent, he undergoes a series of tests in order to not be exposed.

Big Brother (CBS, 9:00 p.m.) — Say goodbye to another house guest.

Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out (MTV, 10:00 p.m.) — Iggy Azalea and Travis Mills compete in “Twerk Work,” “Plead The Fifth,” “Sunday Service” and the “Wildstyle” battle.

Queen of the South (USA, 10:00 p.m.) — Teresa is forced to make a deadly decision while undercover and Camila risks it all on a big heist.

Ripper Street (BBC, 10:00 p.m.) — When a young boy dies in Edmund Reid’s arms, a distraught woman tries to claim him as her son. Later, Reid takes on the bureaucratic police system and his former sergeant.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (FX, 10:00 p.m.) — Gigi tries her hand a managing the band while Johnny’s charity anthem becomes more popular. Elsewhere, Flash makes a major decision and Rehab isn’t happy with how little he’s contributing to “Feast” as rehearsals begin.
