What’s On Tonight: The Last ‘Southland’ Ever, Possibly

Southland (TNT, 10 p.m.) – Southland wraps up its fifth, and possibly final, season tonight. What started — for me, at least — as nothing but an excuse to make lots of cheap “HEY LOOGIT RYAN ATWOOD FROM THE O.C. IS A COP” jokes ended up being a damn good show, and one of the pioneers of the now-popular trend where a struggling network series gets saved by cable. Unfortunately things look pretty bleak for the show, as the ratings and buzz have trickled off, and key members of the cast have started attaching themselves to other projects, so this looks like it could be the end. Maybe Ryan will finally settle down and become an architect, after all. BOOM. One last joke, in at the buzzer. Still got it, DG.

The Americans (FX, 10 p.m.) – Elizabeth needs Philip’s help with a dangerous mission tonight. Oh yeah? I GOT A DANGEROUS MISSION FOR HER, ALL RIGHT. [points to top-secret plans outlining very dangerous mission]

Psych (USA, 10 p.m.) – I swear to God, no matter how occasionally stupid and implausible the events on this show get, I will watch it every time it’s on and I will legitimately be sad when it ends. It’s 100% empty calories, like a diet of cotton candy and Mr. Pibb, and I love it like a wealthy family member.

Suburgatory/How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life (ABC, 8 p.m.) – Tonight’s one-hour season finale of Suburgatory features real estate transactions and chastity belts. The degree of difficulty there is very high. Elsewhere, our buddy Reid Scott (Veep) appears on HLWYPRYL, which is an acronym I just gave How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life because I am not writing it out ever again.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS: Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie on Kimmel; Kelly Osbourne and Brad Gorecki on Ferguson; Ricky Gervais on Stewart; Alan Cumming on Colbert; and Jeff Goldblum and Kate Upton on Conan. Everyone else is in repeats.
