Back in 2013, we reported on Kayla Mendoza, the self-proclaimed “pothead princess” who tweeted “2 drunk 2 care” while driving the wrong way on a busy South Florida expressway. On Monday, she was sentenced to 24 years in prison for the deaths of Marisa Catronio, 21, who died at the scene, and Kaitlyn Ferrante, 21, who passed away later at a hospital.
A judge said Monday that her sentence includes “permanent license revocation” and told Mendoza that she would never drive again.

Before sentencing, Mendoza read a letter to Catronio and Ferrante’s families in the courtroom, saying, “This all may be my fault, but at the end of the day, I’m a human being just like everyone else. I have a heart, and it aches everyday. The guilt is overwhelming. I want to speak about this accident with everyone so that I can prevent this from ever happening again.”
According to the Daily Mail, the families appeared “unmoved.”
