Well guys, whether you like what the movie’s turned into or not, production has begun on Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Of course the movie was originally going to be helmed by Edgar Wright, but he quit over creative differences, and after a (slightly frantic) search Marvel replaced him with Peyton Reed (the man behind such esteemed classics as Bring It On and Yes Man).
With filming officially underway in San Francisco, there can be no more beating around the bush about who’s actually in the film, so Marvel officially unveiled the movie’s full cast. It’s is headlined by Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Pym’s daughter Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket, aka the bad guy of the flick.
The movie will also feature Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Bobby Cannavale (Blue Jasmine), David Dastmalchian (a Joker thug in The Dark Knight and various other creepy guy roles), Wood Harris (Avon Barksdale from The Wire), Gregg Turkington (Neil Hamburger himself), T.I. (one of those hip-hopping fellows) and John Slattery. No specific word on who all these folks are playing, except for Slattery, who I assume is returning of Tony Stark’s dad, Howard Stark.
Here’s a bit of a synopsis…
“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
Hmmm, interesting, so Ant-Man is essentially going to be a heist movie. I wonder what they’ll be heisting? Sugar cubes? Little bites of leaves? Because ants, you see.
