Watching people hear for the very first time with the help of devices like hearing aids or cochlear implants never gets old.
The video above is a unique twist on that genre, as young Lachlan Lever was just seven weeks old when the beautiful baby boy received his first hearing aid. He was obviously unable to express his excitement with words, but his face lit up as soon as the device was turned on and he was able to hear his parents’ voices for the very first time.
Toby Lever uploaded the clip of his son over the weekend, and reports that young Lachlan is now two years old and doing just great:
Our beautiful son Lachlan was diagnosed as having moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. When he was 7 weeks old he received his first hearing aids. His reaction when they were turned on was truly amazing. We cried from happiness. Our beautiful little boy is now two years old and doing remarkably well.
Does this mean Lachlan will also wait an extra seven weeks before he completely tunes his parents out as a teenager? Or does that biological countdown start ticking at birth no matter what?
