Up until this point in the 2016 presidential race, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has devoted most of his presidential campaign to attacks on Planned Parenthood, “anchor babies,” and “sanctuary cities,” and it’s gotten him virtually nowhere, with recent polls regularly showing him registering support at or below one percent. As a result, he’s been largely left out of any talk about serious GOP candidates, and he’s not been invited to participate in any Republican presidential debates so far.
Now, perhaps sensing that time is running out and a bold move is needed to breathe life into his dying campaign, Jindal has taken to attacking Donald Trump — whose lead in the race continues to increase with each shocking, ridiculous thing he says — and is doing so in a manner unlike any of his fellow GOP candidates. Jindal’s going after Trump hard, saying, in his words, “what everyone is thinking about Donald Trump, but is afraid to say.”
Here’s a sampling of things Jindal said about Trump in a campaign speech this morning at the National Press Club…
“Here is the problem: Donald Trump is not a serious candidate. He is a narcissist. He is an egomaniac. The only thing he believes in is himself.”
“He is a carnival act.”
“Like all narcissists, Donald Trump is insecure and weak… We know that only a very weak and small person needs to constantly tell us how strong and powerful they are.”
“Donald Trump is shallow. He has no understanding of policy. He is full of bluster. He has no substance. He lacks the intellectual curiosity to even learn.”
“You may have recently seen that after Trump said the Bible is his favorite book. He couldn’t name a single Bible verse or passage that meant something to him. And we all know why, because it’s all just a show, and he hasn’t ever read the Bible. But you know why he hasn’t read the Bible? Because he’s not in it.”
“It’s silly to argue policy with this guy. He doesn’t know anything about it. He has no idea what he is talking about. He makes it all up on the fly.”
“The Donald Trump act is great, and the idea of Donald Trump is great. But the reality of Donald Trump is absurd.”
“Just because people like watching Kim Kardashian, we wouldn’t put her in the White House, either.”
Here’s video of Jindal’s speech…
And yesterday, Jindal’s campaign released this new attack ad on Trump, likening him to Charlie Sheen who, interestingly enough, wants to be Trump’s running mate.
Now, let’s all sit back and wait for Trump to say something inappropriate about Jindal’s skin color and/or ethnicity. You know it’s coming.
Meanwhile, longtime Jindal observers are amused…
