The world first became acquainted with Bree Olson during the great Charlie Sheen meltdown of 2011, when the Two and a Half Men star introduced her and graphic designer Natalie Kenly as his live-in “goddesses” — but Olson had already been actively working in the adult film industry for five years at that point. Shortly after parting ways with Sheen, Olson also parted ways with porn, attempting to make the transition to mainstream work.
But it hasn’t been easy. Other than small parts in The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) and a web short Power/Rangers, work has all but dried up for Olson. In this candid interview with Real Women Real Stories, a “unique project curated by men with the goal of embracing women who are silent in their pain, but want to speak out,” Olson describes how difficult life has been since she decided to leave porn.
She says that people don’t treat her like an ex-sex worker, but like a pedophile who would “somehow be damaging to children.” When asked how she would like to be treated, Olson breaks down as if the thought had never occurred to her. She says she wants to send a message to young girls to really think about whether or not this is really what they want before getting into the industry, because after working in porn, it becomes that much more difficult to reintegrate into a normal life.
Hopefully Olson is able to find some semblance of normalcy one day, but in the meantime, she unfortunately serves as a living cautionary tale.
