There are few things more terrifying than losing control of your vehicle. It’s only happened to me once, years ago when I driving home from work late in the middle of a snowstorm and my car slid onto the other side of the road before hitting a snowbank. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic, but I can definitely say I saw my life flash before my eyes. But that was nothing compared to what Travis Carpenter, the guy in the above video, experienced while making the drive from Indianapolis to Whitewater, Wisconsin recently.
Carpenter writes that he likes to film himself practicing singing on long drives to pass the time, but on this occasion while driving on I-65 in heavy rain his camera picked up a hell of a lot more than his aspiring career in Christian rock when his car suddenly hydroplaned, flipped over backwards, then slid off the road and down a small hill.
Amazingly Carpenter suffered no injuries from the crash, and even writes that there was no mechanical damage to his car, only body damage. But it just goes to show how quickly something like this can happen. Carpenter was driving 70 mph at the time of the crash, and while that may be the speed limit on that particular section of highway, let this serve as a scary reminder to take it slower in rain.
