We’ve officially reached Peak Donald Trump, people. The reality television star/hotel mogul/author/apparently legitimate presidential candidate took the stage at a campaign rally in Greenville, S.C. on Thursday while holding a copy of the New York Times.
Trump proceeded to read a piece from the Times, which focused on his relationship with Spanish-language journalists, specifically in the aftermath of his ejection of Univision anchor Jorge Ramos from a news conference in Iowa this week.
He read the first sentence — complete with the Spanish phrase “El hombre del peluquín” — and then beckoned for a volunteer from the audience to come on stage and feel his hair, warning that she should be careful because he uses a lot of hair spray.
And then the woman went on stage and actually pet The Donald and announced to the crowd that she did, in fact, believe it to be Trump’s real hair.
Are we sure that this isn’t actually Andy Kaufman posing as Trump? Like, we’re positive? Because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to tell whether these functions are campaign rallies or performance art masterpieces.
