The wedding of Josh Peck brought some unexpected distress for fans of Nickelodeon and his co-star Drake Bell. It seems the former co-star and friend didn’t get an invite to the ceremony and felt a sting of betrayal, taking to social media to release some frustration before deleting the tweets. The reactions to the moment came swiftly and folks claimed they were actually sad that Peck neglected to invite his friend and former television stepbrother.
Since then, most fans have been trying to gather themselves after this blow. They’ve also gotten a reminder courtesy of some humor from John Stamos, who did get an invite to the wedding and let everybody know it. Now we’re getting a fresh view on the story from Bell himself through a new chat with People. The actor and musician works to clean up the mess and confusion from the incident by showing that things aren’t as bad as they seemed:
“He’s been my best friend for 18 years. In all honesty, we talk all the time, we’ve been talking. I was just expecting…”
He stops short there, but it’s hard to tell if there was some sort of actual pause or if it was just some sort of issue on People’s end. Bell does continue from there to talk about how the actual reaction to his tweets and the apparent feud caught him off guard:
“That was a shock. I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal. I did not realize that it was going to have such a viral affect…
“That’s my bro you know?” he said. “It’s kind of one of those things were you’re fighting with him on the playground, but if someone else says something, you’re like — ‘Hey, I can say that but you can’t!’ ”
You have to question how much of that “shock” is actually the truth, especially in today’s swift digital age. People can react and grab onto something in an instant, making you wonder why any celebrity isn’t completely aware and locked down on their thought processes. Still, it’s good that Bell doesn’t have any ill feelings towards his pal. Now we just need to hear from Peck to put this thing to bed entirely and give those worried fans a little hope to grab onto.
