It’s safe to say that our long national, grammatically-questionable nightmare is over, because it seems as though the Fifty Shades of Grey fad is officially dunzo. This is presenting a brand-new problem however, because now that women no longer have interest in the book, they’re donating them to charity shops and used bookstores… All 125 million copies that were sold worldwide. That’s a lot of books.
Over in the UK, one Oxfam charity shop in Swansea, South Wales has received so many copies of the novel that they’re now actually turning people away. But not before they built that sweet fort you see pictured above:
Oxfam worker Phil Broadhurst said his store has become a ‘retirement home’ for copies of EL James’s book — which was released as a film in 2015 — and its sequels.
Mr. Broadhurst said: ‘We appreciate all the donations — but less “Fifty Shades” and more ’60s and ’70s vinyl would be good.
The shop has dealt with the overflow of “literally hundreds” of copies of the books by sending them to a nearby book warehouse where they’ll either be processed for resale or recycled. But since used copies of the books aren’t exactly selling like hotcakes on Amazon and eBay, it’s likely that some E.L. James might be ending up in your next milk carton.
Mmm, sexy, sexy milk.
