If body camera manufacturers want to emphasize personal safety, they should probably look no further than this YouTube user. Moments after turning his helmet camera on, both he and his sweet, sweet bike were slammed into by a car running a red light. The resulting video is, for lack of a better word, amazeballs:
This happened to me on 1/28/2015 as I left my parking garage to head home from work. I had just turned my helmet camera on (Contour ROAM) which is the starting point of this video. Cager clearly blows his red light and hits me in the intersection. My heavily customized 2011 Daytona 675 is destroyed in an instant but I manage to land on my feet. ATGAT saved me from severe injuries as I walked away with only bumps and bruises.
The biker’s camera wasn’t the only source of footage. According to another YouTube user familiar with the incident:
[A] cab driver got it on his dash cam and the cops said they’ll give him the footage of it.
This guy should probably keep his phone handy. Direct callsĀ from the Wachowskis don’t come all that often.
