Flying is all fun and games until everything around you bursts into flames. Whether or not a fire in a plane is worse than Snakes on a Plane is a discussion for another time, but for the pilot of the TBM Avenger who saw smoke in his cabin during a flyover in Washington, D.C., such questions didn’t matter. All that did was getting the plane back on to the goddamn ground.
According to USA Today, the event took place on May 8 to commemorate Victory in Europe Day — otherwise known as “VE Day.” The cockpit video above was posted to YouTube on Tuesday, and it’s creepy as hell. Like, oh-my-god-there’s-smoke-everywhere-we’re-going-to-die creepy.
The unnamed pilot landed the vintage plane at Reagan National Airport after bailing out of the formation. At least there weren’t any snakes.
