The Family That Brought Us ‘Christmas Jammies’ Is Back With A Halloween-Themed Parody Video

The Holderness Family is back and better than ever with a brand new parody video. Or worse, depending on your personal point of view and taste for such things.

You may remember the first time they broke through with a viral video just before Christmas in 2013 with a parody song called “Christmas Jammies.” It was catchy, if not a bit outdated considering the song they were parodying — “Miami,” by Will Smith — was 15 years old at the time. That video was such a hit that even SNL parodied them. With that in mind, they doubled down last Thanksgiving with another parody song, “All About That Baste,” which, of course, was a parody of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.”

So, let’s see, with Christmas and Thanksgiving out of the way, the next logical holiday to address this year would be Halloween, and The Holderness Family was ready to oblige. In this latest installment, they’ve decided to create a parody of “Tootsie Roll” by 69 Boyz with a song called “Let Me See Your Candy Bowl,” which is interesting, considering they could have just as easily kept some of 69 Boyz’ lyrics in order to make it a song about trick-or-treating.

The actual lyrics to “Tootsie Roll,” by 69 Boyz: “Cotton candy, sweet and low, let me see that tootsie roll.”

Now, the parody lyrics to “Candy Bowl,” by The Holderness Family: “She ain’t got no self-control, she just wants that candy bowl.”

Granted, the “tootsie roll” that 69 Boyz was referring to two decades ago is different than the “Tootsie Roll” that Momma Holderness would have been referring to in their parody song. But that would have just added to its cleverness, in my opinion.

If you give me a Snickers, I’ll eat it whole. So please just give me a Tootsie Roll.
