Six people, including a scientist and a forestry employee, were injured following a harrowing, 10-hour standoff with an eight-year-old male leopard at a school in Bangalore, India on Sunday. According to a wildlife official who spoke with the BBC, they believe that the leopard wandered into the Vibgyor International school from a patch of nearby forest. And as you can see in the above video captured by surveillance cameras, it was pissed.
“It was a long struggle to capture the leopard. Although it was injected with tranquillisers, it could be captured only around 20.15 local time when the medication took full effect,” senior police official S Boralingaiah told reporters.
When finally subdued, the leopard was taken to a national park, and of the six people injured, miraculously none of the injuries were serious. With a leopard population of 12,000 to 14,000 in India, apparently incidents like this are sadly becoming more and more common as the animals’ natural habitats are compromised.
