The above video was captured from a cable car in Greenwich, London, last week and no one seems to know what to make of it. The shaky footage, which seems like something straight out of a J.J. Abrams movie, zooms in on what appears to be some kind of serpent or eel-like creature gliding along in the Thames River. The video has now accumulated over one million views, with many quick to speculate that the creature resembles the infamous Loch Ness monster, although the more likely scenario is some kind of whale, bull shark, or a pod of dolphins or porpoises.
What the internet can seem to resoundingly agree on is the lack of filming prowess by the cameraman, prompting hilarious YouTube comments like these:
Look something awesome and spooky. Better shake the camera as much as I can
My god wtf is that! Probably a giant scary monster. better get out my potato and play hot potato with it after i record these trucks for 30 seconds.
“Oh no, something strange is swimming in the Thames. But f*ck that, look at those concrete mixers”
Let this be your friendly reminder that if you ever happen to come across something odd, remember to keep your wits about you and for the love of everything holy, please film horizontally. Thank you and have a lovely day.
