The world is a hard place to live in. Especially through the lens of the internet, where the cream does not necessarily rise to the top but the awful sometimes does. There’s a lot of bad people out there doing a lot of bad things. Suffering is real, and while attention must be shown to the bad guys of the world, too often do the good deeds go overlooked. Not today.
On Friday, a kind New York City subway rider stepped up to the universe’s call to action, and noticed a man shivering, shirtless and looking sick. Naturally, the only thing for this altruistic man to do was give him the shirt off his back. In a video captured by Facebook user Lazaro Nolasco, the nameless man walks up to the frail gentlemen, and without a second thought removes his clothing and helps him put on the shirt.
Nolasco shed some light on what happened:
“The guy did a good deed, so I wanted to record it. I would tell him, ‘God bless him.’ That was thoughtful.”
The name of the shirt-giver and the other man are not known, but Nolasco was able to overhear some of their brief conversation in which the Good Samaritan offered to bring him to a hospital, and the shivering man agreed to go.
Now everyone’s warmer. Or at least their heart is.
