If you don’t have at least a couple painfully awkward photos from your childhood and formative years lurking around somewhere, then congratulations on your natural genetic aesthetics. Let me know how marrying the prom queen and never leaving your hometown went when you have a second. For the rest of us, particularly those of us who leaned on the geeky side growing up, old childhood photos can be a treasure trove of unintentional comedy.
As such, unofficial king of the geeks Patton Oswalt was kind enough to share some of his old photos for #ThrowbackThursday today, and they’re everything you’d hope they would be. Patton Oswalt also does not seem to have aged at all, just somehow morphed into a slightly larger version of his childhood self. We’ll start with this first one, that suggests Oswalt’s parents watched way too much Fantasy Island back in the ’70s:

And of course he was soon forced to add:
Guys, I KNOW Thelonious played the piano. I was making fun of my suburban cluelessness. Oh well. Enjoy your Twitter "Actually…" orgy.

Maybe this will give the rest of us courage to exorcise our own #ThowbackThursday demons. Mine in particular involves an acid-washed denim vest and side ponytail secured with a ponytail holder fashioned to look like a high-top sneaker. Then again, maybe next Thursday…
