Back in April, we introduced you to “Wanksy,” a British graffiti artist and concerned citizen who had taken it upon himself to alert city officials about potholes by drawing giant dongs around them. Said Wanksy at the time:
“I wanted to attract attention to the pothole and make it memorable. Nothing seemed to do this better than a giant comedy phallus. It’s also speedy, I don’t want to be in the road for a long time. It seems to have become my signature. I just want to make people smile and draw attention to the problem. It seems to be working, judging from the Facebook fan page.”
Well, I am pleased to report that the British phenomenon of drawings dongs around potholes is now an INTERNATIONAL PHENOMENON, as a mysterious graffiti artist in Portland, Oregon, has also gotten in on the act. From Portland’s KOIN News:
Paint outlining potholes and bumps in the road near NE 67th and Pacific looks a little phallic to some residents. Debbie Bain told KOIN 6 News she thinks the graffiti artist struck in the middle of the night.
“It does look a little, um, interesting,” Bain said. “Sunday night it was not there, I got up Monday morning and saw it.”
Drawing dongs around potholes, now officially a thing.
