Let the pearl-clutching begin. Some guy who went on local television to say that he would spend his Powerball winnings on “hookers and cocaine” is actually married with two kids. Imagine!

Nevada resident Isaac Carranza’s totally original and serious answer to the age-old “what would you do if you won the lottery” question went viral last week. Apparently, what he said was so intriguing that multiple outlets had to track him down.

First, he went on 98.5 KLUC Las Vegas to clarify that he would spend any winnings on his kids’ college education and a new car. He also said that the reporter who approached him made him feel dumb so he gave a dumb answer in return.

He told TMZ that his wife was okay with his answer, and that she knows his “twisted sense of humor” well. In reality, if he had won, he would’ve used his earnings to take care of his mother and improve his hometown of Salinas, Calif. And his drug of choice? Weed. Oh, and also this guy is an Army vet who served in Afghanistan, which means totally shocking and original sense of humor aside, Isaac Carranza is pretty freaking wholesome. How disappointing.

But maybe his answers to TMZ are a course correction. Maybe his “real plans” for spending lottery money that he didn’t win was the actual joke. Maybe the joke’s on us for caring about a person who didn’t actually say anything that surprising or transgressive about what he would do if suddenly came into great wealth.
