Raccoons, or, trash pandas as they’re commonly known, are not your friends. Sure, some of them will trick humans into letting them assimilate into domestic life, but the majority of raccoons you encounter are wily creatures who will stop at nothing to steal food (or in some cases beer) and generally make themselves at home on your property.
That’s what a 19-year-old student named Guy Williams (which is a pretty great name) at Bellarmine University in Kentucky learned the hard way Tuesday night, when he and his friends were feeding acorns to a raccoon they named “Stanley” that hangs out on campus. Williams set his phone down on the ground to record some hot “raccoon eating” action when Stanley up and made off with his damn phone. Thankfully, he was still recording, so his phone’s camera caught the whole thing.

Williams eventually got his phone back when Stanley grew bored with it (or realized that it wasn’t food, which is more likely), as he later tweeted, “All these people in my mentions assuming I hurt the raccoon to get my phone back… simmer down lol. Dude just finally dropped it.”
The video has gotten nearly 50,000 likes and 40,000 retweets since it was posted last night, and viral fame aside, the whole thing could have been avoided if he would have only considered the following piece of advice.
It's wearing a little bandit's mask. What did you think was going to happen?
