Yesterday, real-life Bond villain Rupert Murdoch — the man responsible for unleashing Fox News and the phone hack-y New of the World upon humanity — popped up on Twitter, as did his young, Asian wife, the famously feisty Wendi Deng, apparently (Or maybe not). Bout f-ing time, right?!
Media nerds on Twitter obsessed with life inside their little bubble immediately took to chattering about whether the accounts attributed to Murdoch, whose Twitter profile pic (at right) shows his metamorphosis into a Shar-Pei nearing completion, and Deng were authentic, mainly because most of the tweets on each of their pages were utterly ridiculous and read like fakes — and because media nerds apparently have nothing better to do on national holidays filled with unseasonably warm weather and an orgy of college football on television.
Perhaps it hadn’t occurred to anyone that an old man and a young woman to whom English isn’t a native language might not really communicate themselves all that well in their first few hours on Twitter?
Also, who gives a sh*t?!
(UPDATE: The Wendi Deng Twitter account is, as it turns out, a fake.)
If only the aforementioned media nerds on Twitter would devote the same amount of energy to getting to the bottom of Rupert’s Shar-Pei transformation!
