Just because free agency has officially started doesn’t mean the slate of surprise NFL trades has to end. Less than 30 minutes before free agency started, Jay Glazer dropped a nugget bomb on everyone that the Saints and Seahawks were finalizing a trade sending tight end Jimmy Graham to Seattle.

What are the Saints doing? Well, clearing cap room, mostly. After a flurry of releases and pay cuts, the team was just under the cap at the start of Tuesday. Getting Graham’s contract off the books (he signed a four-year, $40 million deal last year) will free up quite a bit more space while giving them an additional first-round pick plus a starting lineman.
