A drug dealer in London tried to hide £1,000, or more than $1,500, worth of heroin and crack cocaine from the police by hiding it up his butt.
Sy Allen was pulled over by the police and detained for a drugs search. At the time, the police already had evidence that Allen was involved with drug dealing, but before the police had the chance to search him, he shoved the drugs, 24 wraps of heroin and 20 wraps of crack cocaine, up his butt for safekeeping. He was still taken into custody, based on the telephone evidence. He refused all food and water for the first three days, and he refused any medical help for 20 days after that, until he was finally taken to the hospital:
Detective Sergeant Andrew Stott from Essex Police said: ‘Allen’s behaviour showed the lengths that some criminals will go to to conceal evidence, putting themselves at risk of serious health implications.
‘This case demonstrated patience and excellent evidence and sends a strong message to those seeking to bring drugs into Essex, that we will do whatever is necessary to ensure that we catch and convict them.’
After the drugs were retrieved from his buttocks, Allen pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and heroin, and he was sentenced to 32 months in prison.
