There’s a new virtual reality park opening up in Utah, and if this promo is any indication, it’s going to be incredible. Visitors will be able to do anything, from fighting orcs to slaying dragons to casting magic spells — all while being surrounded by 360 degrees of virtual world.
Here’s a description of The Void from its very cinematic teaser:
At THE VOID you will walk into new dimensions and experience worlds without limits. From fighting intergalactic wars on alien planets, to casting spells in the darkest of dungeons, THE VOID presents the future of entertainment. Only limited by imagination, our advanced Virtual-Reality technologies allow you to see, move, and feel our digital worlds in a completely immersive and realistic way.
Let’s just hope that the real thing is amazing as the commercial. Who wouldn’t want to go to there when it opens next year? And the best part? According to the creators, no one’s going to get nauseated from the experience as some people do when playing first-person shooters.
“No one gets sick in our experience because your body is doing what your eyes are thinking,” Hickman said. “You’re not sitting at a desk moving around; you are moving around at a 1:1 ratio. As far as smoothness, we have a very low latency. We’re not left in a bubble. We’re with the VR world, and as VR in and of itself makes advancements, we just incorporate those advancements into the void.”
Please, please live up to the hype! I’m ready to bring the tech of Ready Player One into my life.
