Marvel has released three additional clips and a featurette from Thor: The Dark World (first clip here). We’re starting to feel like we’ve seen the whole movie out of order, but the extensive promotion isn’t hurting Marvel any. Thor: The Dark World is tracking to earn over $75M its opening weekend, exceeding the $65.7M opening of Thor.
In this first video, Sif (Jamie Alexander) and Volstagg (Ray Stevenson) fight Malekith’s Dark Elf army while Thor is fashionably late.
In the next clip, Thor and Jane (Natalie Portman) are finally reunited, and we have the exposition dump about why Natalie Portman wasn’t in The Avengers.
Don’t watch this next one if you’re trying to keep your knowledge about the villain, Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), at the minimum.
He’ll always be The Doctor to us.
Finally, here is a featurette about Loki’s motivation. As Tom Hiddleston explains, “He’s someone who knows his true nature, and he’s having a really good time.”
In other words, HE DOES WHAT HE WANTS.
Thor: The Dark World opens November 8th, 2013.
