SO INTENSE.
Photographer Daniel Lopez released a new time-lapse video, “El Cielo de Canarias”, which means either “Cecelia makes the best carnitas” or “Canary Sky”. Could be either. The video was filmed over the course of an entire year on each of the Canary Islands in Spain, including the beautiful Teide National Park located over 6500 ft (2000 meters) above sea level. It’s a great location for checking out the stars and watching clouds roll in. Many of the shots are taken at night or during dusk and dawn, making for some awesome astronomy shots:
This video has everything! The fluid motion of the clouds, a double rainbow (yes, yes, I know), a corona around the Sun (not the Sun’s atmosphere, but a lovely optical effect from water droplets in the clouds), standing-wave lenticular clouds, even a Green Flash! Watch the stars as they wheel across the view; can you spot the Pleiades, the Andromeda Galaxy? [BadAstronomy]
I can’t find any of that stuff, but it is pretty great how all these stars keep orbiting the Earth just for our amusement . . . what? Pfft, whatever, man. It’s turtles all the way down.
