When you failed a test in school, how did your mom react? Maybe she was pissed. Maybe you were grounded. Maybe she took away your slap bracelets and pogs and whatever other relics of another time mattered most to you. Or, maybe, if she’s like Staten Island mom Karen Shearon, she threatened to blow up the school. Thanks, mom!
A guidance counselor at Susan E. Wagner HS called high-strung mom Karen Shearon Tuesday morning to tell her that her 15-year-old daughter failed the standardized test, according to sources.
Outraged by the news, Shearon, 48, allegedly snarled, “I’m gonna blow up that school,” the criminal complaint states.
Shearon was released without bail and denies any wrongdoing.
For what it’s worth, this was a Regents test, which is a standardized test in New York. For giggles, I Googled “what happens if you fail a Regents exam” to see if you can be punished by law or flogged in the square. Here’s what WNYC says.
What if you fail a Regents?
It’s not a big deal. You’re allowed to keep taking them. This is something many many kids in New York City public schools deal with…So you can take it again and take it again until you get a score that you like.
So, not super blow-up-the-school-worthy.
