This handsome kitty is named Merlin, and he’s just been named the Guinness World Record holder for the planet’s loudest cat. Not his meow, not his cat screech, but his purr registers at as high as 100 decibels, which is about the same as a lawnmower, a helicopter, or a jet flying over you at 1,000 feet. So Merlin purrs as loudly as a freaking machine.
The 13-year-old cat purrs so loudly that his owner, Tracy Westwood, has said that she often has to repeat herself if Merlin purrs while she speaks.
“When you’re watching films you have to turn the telly up or put him out of the room, if he’s eating he’ll purr loudly. I can hear him when I’m drying my hair.”
That’s a loudass cat. If he could roar like a lion, he’d probably scare a lion. Or a bear. He should really be the subject of a new Marvel movie, Merlin the Loud-Cat.
