You’ve likely seen or heard the name Yanet Garcia, the Mexican weatherwoman who has taken over the Internet. In the last two weeks, Garcia has gained close to 400,000 followers on Instagram, 100,000 more on Twitter and garnered more than 300,000 new likes on her official Facebook page. She’s become so popular that fans are searching far and wide of old video from her modeling days. The most recent one floating around on Reddit went viral after just a few hours.
Speaking of Reddit, one astute observer jumped on the r/yanetgarcia subreddit just before the craze hit its peak. Over the weekend, that page was the fastest growing non-default subreddit in a 24-hour span. For reference, when we posted about her on June 24, there were no submissions and only 28 subscribers. Now there are more than 3,000.
The subreddit is mostly filled with photos from her Instagram page and screencaps/GIFs from her weather forecasts.
Sadly, this video of an Australian man breaking down Yanet’s meteorological skills is nowhere to be seen. It’s absolute gold.
So, too, is this meme.
And for anything else you may have missed on the web today…
