Details continue to surface after the shooting at a T.I. concert Monday night left one dead and several others injured. Rumors spread immediately that Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave was involved in the shooting at NYC venue Irving Plaza, and eventually his team confirmed that he had been “grazed” by a bullet during the incident. Now, the NY Daily News is telling a much more sinister story in which Troy is not only the instigator but also facing murder charges.
According to the Daily News, Troy not only shot himself, but shot into a crowd because of beef he has with fellow Brooklyn rapper Maino.
Troy Ave, of Crown Heights, accidentally shot himself during the chaos in the leg, sources said. He was charged with reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession, according to sources.
Troy, who was to perform at the show, had a beef with Maino, who had just left the stage when at least five shots rang out, sources said.
The shooting occurred after Maino finished performing at the show and before Troy himself was set to take the stage. The Daily News also reports that ballistics tests will determine whether or not Troy is charged with murder in the shooting that left Ronald McPhatter, who is said to be Troy’s body guard, dead. Video has also surfaced of a man, who appears to be Troy Ave, firing his pistol inside Irving Plaza.
We are following up with this story as more details emerge.
Update: Troy has also been charged with attempted murder.
He was charged with attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, cops said. He is expected to face a murder charge pending the results of a ballistics test, according to sources.
