ABC moves ‘Goode Family’ to Fridays, bumps up ‘Japanese Game Show’

After several low-rated airings on Wednesdays, “The Goode Family” has been shipped to Fridays, with ABC forming a sure-to-be-low-rated comedy block on the night.

ABC announced on Friday (June 5) that effective next week, “Surviving Suburbia” will air at 8 p.m. on Friday nights, followed by “The Goode Family” at 8:30.

“Surviving Suburbia” had previously been paired with “The Goode Family” on Wednesdays, but ABC pulled the Bob Saget comedy after a lone airing and decided to go with a double-dose of the animated Mike Judge series in the 9 p.m. hour. This past week, that strategy yielded an estimated audience of under 2.7 million viewers and a 1.1 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.

Instead of comedies, ABC will air a second new episode of the summer-sized hit “Wipeout” on June 10. Then, ABC has moved up the premiere of the second season of “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” to June 17. The network had previously slated the “Japanese Game Show” premiere for July 8, but with the series already in the can, bumping up the competition pairing made sense.
