His new TNT series “Trust Me” is still on the air, but Eric McCormack is exploring a return to network TV.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCormack has been cast in ABC’s untitled Tad Quill multicamera comedy, along with Reno Wilson, Jolie Jenkins and Constance Zimmer.
The pilot focuses on two long-time best friends with very different lives. McCormack will play Dean, a heart surgeon with a new baby. Wilson (“Heist”) will play Seth, a contractor with an empty nest. Jenkins (“Novel Adventures”) will play Dean’s wife, with Zimmer (“Entourage”) as Seth’s wife.
The trade paper says that “Trust Me” (which it confusingly calls “Truth in Advertising”) is in first position for McCormack (an Emmy winner for “Will & Grace”), but it isn’t expected to return.
ABC has plenty of other casting news to report.
Holly Robinson Peete (“Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper”) and Josh Braaten (“That ’80s Show”) will join Lauren Graham in the network’s “The Bridget Show.”
Also at ABC, Lindsay Sloane (“Grosse Pointe”), Mary Elizabeth Ellis (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) and Charlie Finn (“Life on a Stick” have joined the comedy pilot “Pulling.”
